Style & Beauty
I’ve been obsessed with fashion, style, and beauty for as long as I can remember — probably since I was 9 or 10 years old. In fourth grade, someone gifted me a subscription to Teen magazine, and I can still picture myself sprawled across my bedroom floor, completely mesmerized by the clothes, the models, and the makeup.
I would spend hours flipping through those glossy pages, cutting out my favorite looks and pinning them to the bulletin board above my desk. Then I’d try to recreate them with my very humble wardrobe of hand-me-downs and discount department store finds. I’d save my allowance and make a beeline to CVS or Rite Aid to grab the “it” shade of Wet n Wild lipstick, scrunch my hair with L’Oréal Studio Line gel, and douse myself in Exclamation or Sunflowers perfume like I was headed to a runway instead of middle school.
As I got older, my magazine stack grew up with me — Vogue, Glamour, and Marie Claire became monthly essentials. When I went off to college and later landed my first job in NYC, my style evolved right along with my paycheck. I upgraded to MAC makeup, bought my first Louis Vuitton bag with a bonus (a core memory!), and fell hard for designers like DVF and Marc Jacobs.
And somewhere in the middle of all those phases, one constant remained: Nordstrom. Whether I was splurging on a designer piece, searching for the perfect pair of boots, or hunting for a great sale find, it always felt like my happy place — and still does— equal parts inspiration and practicality.
Then life shifted in the most beautiful way. We got married, bought a house, and started a family. While my love for designer pieces never disappeared, my budget definitely changed. I didn’t have quite the same discretionary income I did in my twenties — but my passion for style was still very much alive.
So I got creative.
I learned how to spot trends early and recreate the looks I loved without the luxury price tag. H&M, Zara, Amazon, and Target became my new treasure troves. And honestly? I discovered that great style isn’t about how much you spend — it’s about how you put it together.
Fashion has always been my creative outlet. The labels may have changed over the years, but the excitement of putting together an outfit that makes me feel confident and polished? That never goes out of style.
